Volunteering Information

Becoming a volunteer firefighter

According  to the National Fire Prevention Association, approximately 69% of  firefighters in the United States are volunteer. This speaks great  volumes about our nation, and the way neighbors help each other. Here in our community, that number is far closer to 100%, as only our chief and training officer are full time firefighters.

Minimum Requirements for Volunteers:

  • 18 years old
  • Pass a medical exam, including a drug test
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Have a valid WA State driver's license
  • Have a good driving record
  • Be of good moral character
  • High School diploma, or equivalent
  • Live in the fire district

Get trained, and respond in your community!

Volunteer firefighting is a serious commitment!

New members must go to an EMT school, (or have their Washington State EMT) and are strongly encouraged to go to the county fire academy. Both are 3-4 month long schools. Classes are designed for volunteers with full time jobs, and are held on evenings and weekends.

Volunteering can be very rewarding. If you  are interested in volunteering, please contact us at (360) 599-2823, or  send us an email at info@wcfd14.org
